Christmas at the Station

It’s Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas

Take McAdam Railway Station - a provincial and national treasure, gather a village of volunteers, and decorate every nook and cranny. Next, add lights, glitter and sparkle, and a well-timed snowstorm. Bake cookies for the children, and make a lot of hot apple cider. Add some festive music - a carol… “It’s Beginning to Look a lot like Christmas,” then have the stationmaster open the doors. Admirers will come and smile and marvel in childlike wonder. It is the perfect recipe for Christmas at the Station and it is coming soon on Thursday November 16th, 2023 & Friday November 17th, 2023 from 2 - 8 pm, Saturday November 18th, 2023 noon - 8 pm, and Sunday November 19th, 2023 from 2 - 8 pm. Tickets: Adults: $15 each & Children under 12: Free.

Enjoy my collection of experiences from years gone by then make your way to McAdam Railway Station for this enchanting event.

There is Just Something About This Place

McAdam Railway Station long ago cast a spell on me. It takes me back in time the very second I step out of my vehicle and glance up at this majestic, architectural beauty. It happens every single time I visit. There is just something about this place. I feel its history - the people and their stories, and I am drawn to to the idea of maybe one day, it will be a fully functioning grand hotel again with new people with new stories and a new chance at shining brightly again. This building is begging for it, and it would be spectacular - it is a crown jewel - but for now, we have these extra special events that the whole village of McAdam comes together to put on. And Christmas at the Station is one of my very favourites!

At Christmas, It is Downright Magical

McAdam Railway Station was modelled after a Scottish castle with Gothic, Baroque, and Victorian style architecture. Sir William Van Horne, who built the Canadian Pacific Railway, commissioned the station. Architect Edward Maxwell and W.H. Joseph McVay & sons were directly responsible for construction.  It is a marvel of architecture but it is also more than that. It is alive with its glorious historical past. And at Christmas, it is downright magical.
