Uber-Cool Urban Threadz

One Stop Shopping in a Beautiful Place

'Urban Threadz' (aka Studio 103) is the loveliest 'all in one' shop nestled in a charming 1840 heritage home in Historic Downtown Fredericton.  I am a regular customer here and have introduced family & friends to the coolest boutique with women's clothing, accessories, home decor & a great gift shop ~ all under one big beautiful roof.

Tender Loving Care

Urban Threadz became what it is today under the TLC that Victoria & Scott Boer, the passionate owners, have given it. Their dedication goes well above & beyond typical storeowners.  They live on the top two floors above the shop and never stop thinking about what they can do next to serve their customers better or offer something more.

Located directly across from Christ Church Cathedral on 103 Church Street, with convenient shopping hours and a customer parking lot, this hidden gem is one you will thank me for introducing you to (if you haven't found it already).

Unique Beautiful Items

Vicki & Scott travel near and far to source unique, beautiful lines, 75% of which are Canadian.  Urban Threadz customers reap the benefits and enjoy quality silks, cottons, linens, wools & bamboo from brands like: April Cornell, Desigual, Ezze Wear, Fair Trade Cotton & Organics, Frank Lyman, Fly London, J Line, Leopards and Roses, Libra, Molly Bracken, Neon Buddha, Novelti, Papillion, Pretty Woman, Rodan & Tom Tailor. Urban Threadz sources these clothing lines from Manitoba, Montreal, Toronto & Vancouver. They also buy a few very special lines from Italy & Spain.

For Fall, Vicki is very excited to offer Wully Outerwear Vegan Jackets & FURious Fur (all faux fur) with proceeds going to PETA.

More Than Clothes...

Pretty things, shiny things, sparkly things, colourful things, funky things, cozy things & always forever thoughtful things... Vicki has it all.  That perfect hostess gift, birthday gift, mother's & father's day gifts, stocking stuffers and more.  A wide range of artisan made items, to beautiful home decor to innovative items ~ like reversible umbrellas & insulated wine totes to blankets from Switzerland & Scotland to a ton of Canadian-made all natural products like soaps, deodorants, hand creams, facial products, bath bombs, soy candles, aroma therapy & scent bracelets.

Urban Threadz is much more than clothes and it is a proud supporter of giving back. Look for Carrier Bracelets, made in Quebec by jewellers with learning disabilities; Casa Relief products, a fair trade & humanitarian relief effort that connects artisans & the Canadian market; & Giftologie - bracelets made from recycled trophies with proceeds donated to women's charities.  Vicki says the best part about owning your own boutique, is that you can shop for unique items & support great causes that each have a special story. Who wouldn't want to support someone with this kind of integrity.

Pride & Joy

Scott Boer is always busy sprucing up Urban Threadz.  He has built most of the display shelving units inside the store and is often seen outside beautifying the grounds or caring for the exterior of their home & business.  While I was taking photos the other day, he was working on it's latest makeover - painting the verandah hot pink!  It has everyone smiling, especially Vicki, so much so that when I arrived yesterday, I saw Scott now painting the whole front of their home this passionate colour!   Come see it for yourself.  It's a standout!

Vicki's knack for sourcing her store with beautiful things comes naturally.  An interior designer by trade grew into incredible eye for knowing what women want and love. She also has a head for business and she knows when a brand isn't working, so she moves it out and seeks new lines that call out to her on one of her buying trips.

Her Happy Place

While Scott is busy caring for the upkeep, Vicki runs the store like clockwork, caring for everything from staffing to accounting to ordering and maintaining a steady flow of new items coming in and great sales and promotions to keep the stock moving out.  The store is always abuzz with happy customers getting great deals and discovering new brands and delighting in their latest finds & returning back time and time again.

Vicki has an office out back and is there most days running the show, but from time to time she wanders in the store and lights up with a big smile greeting her customers like life-long friends.  She shines like a brand new penny in her happy place here at Urban Threadz.  Her staff is trained to warmly welcome customers, but never pressure.  They are helpful, friendly & assist when needed and always say a polite 'come back again'.

You can enjoy a very comfortable shopping experience at Urban Threadz and customers, like me, love it.  After your first visit, you will be back within a week with a friend or two and then they'll tell two friends and so on.  That's how Urban Threadz has grown from its start four short years ago to where it is today. Come see what the buzz is all about.  Say, "the Maritimes Maven sent you!"

This post was sponsored by Studio 103 - Urban Threadz; however, all thoughts and opinions are my own.

Forever changing things up, and evolving, Vicki never stops thinking about new ideas and you never know what you will find in her store or what great event she has planned from an Art & Fashion Show to a Bi-Annual Cash and Carry (& We Pay the Tax Too) Super Sale.

"You know, maybe I'll open a Gelato Bar," she mentioned one day to me, "I've gotta think more about that." And I would not be surprised if it happens, as you just never know what she's going to do next. That's what makes it so fun coming to her store.
