The Purrfect Cup Cat Cafe is Cat-ching On
It’s the Cat’s Meow!
The Purrfect Cup is the Cat’s Meow (and I am not kitten around). Convenient and easily accessible to all Frederictonians, this Cat Cafe is located at the corner of Two Nations Crossing & Cliffe Street (near Willie O’Ree). It is fur-real and a long overdue welcomed cafe on the northside of New Brunswick’s Capital City.
The First Cat Cafe in the Maritimes!
The Purrfect Cup is the first Cat Cafe in the Maritimes and the second in the Atlantic Provinces (Newfoundland being the first). Locally-sourced Whitney coffee & Chess Piece baked goods are offered in a cat-free environment at the front of the business with a good sized seating area with a cool industrial vibe. In striking contrast, the Cat Lounge, where approximately 8 cats reside, is a warm, cozy and comfy living space at the back of the cafe. Access is available to this special room for those customers wishing to enjoy an up close and personal opportunity to interact with the cats and purr-haps make a fur-ever friend.
Great Coffee & Scrumptious Sweet Treats
I have it on good authority, and serious cookie tasters, that the Snickerdoodles, Chocolate Chip Cookies and Brownies are scrumptious here! However, just to be sure, I had a few yummy taste tests myself and I concur with the experts (photographed above). Upon further research, I am happy to share that the Regular Latte & Salted Caramel Latte are both pretty darn delish too!
Get a Good Fe-line & Purr-haps Cat-ch a Cat Nap too!
Besides good eats and great coffee, you can also get a good fe-line and purr-haps cat-ch a cat nap too. The Purrfect Cup is a place I can really get behind as it gives back to the community by hosting Fredericton S.P.C.A. kittens ‘ready to adopt’ in their Cat Lounge. This is a win-win situation and I am happy to announce that since opening, 16 kitties have found their forever families to go home with. Now, how wonderful is that! =^..^=
The Cat’s Pajamas
Large viewing windows allow cafe goers in the front section a ‘fishbowl’ peek and for those cat loving customers that want to enter the room for some closer encounters, they can do so for a small fee (which goes directly back to kitty care). There’s nothing like curling up with a java and getting some kitty snuggles to de-stress! The amount of giggling and smiling customers I met inside the Cat Lounge told me I am not the only one who thinks this idea is the Cat’s Pajamas!
Meet Korey Jennings
Inspired after seeing a story on a Cat Cafe in Calgary, Korey Jennings thought, “Hey! that’s a cool idea!” & well, the rest, as they say, is hiss… tory. All kidding aside, this entrepreneur, along with his girlfriend Shona Newton, have created a trendy happening cafe that truly cares!
The Grand Opening, just two short weeks ago, was a huge success and now Korey says he is fine tuning focussing his attention on the little things on his ‘to do’ list. He shared many ideas, like installing his newly purchased sound baffles in the front seating area and adding more retail offerings with cat items for sale. Bella, my sweet cat at home, just might get a stocking stuffer if he does this.
You can tell, Korey really listens to his customers and is trying to create a space that is enjoyed so much, you want to come back ~ time and time again. If you want my 2 cents, personally, there is not much I would change except I would love to see staff utilize the adorable logo mugs for in-house orders (to cut down on waste) and paw-lease add a kitty latte art to top off inside orders. That would be Claw-some! Staff could also sketch a cute kitty on the take-away paper cups alongside the customers name to purr-sonalize things a bit more too. =^..^=
So, whether you come for the coffee & great baked goods or you come for the kitties, know that - either way ~ you are supporting a great cause. (I was going to say ‘claws’ but I just thought that was too much). =^..^=
Enjoy a relaxed cup of coffee and check out my article in the latest issue of Platinum magazine (available in the cafe) or purr-haps get some kitty snuggles or maybe even find yourself a fur-ever friend, just don’t fur-get that this place is for everyone!
Come give The Purrfect Cup Cat Cafe a try! It is Paws-itively Purr-fect!
