Cottage Chic Coastal Retreats in St. Andrews by-the-Sea

Looking for a seaside escape that blends historic charm with modern comfort? Step inside Cottage Chic Loft and Annex, two beautifully designed coastal retreats right in the heart of St. Andrews by-the-Sea. Whether it’s a girls’ weekend, a romantic getaway, or a solo recharge, these stylish stays and the on-site Cottage Chic Store will have you dreaming of your next visit before you’ve even unpacked.

Cottage Chic Loft

Cottage Chic Loft has become the spot for my girlfriends and me during the Indulge Food & Wine Festival in St. Andrews, New Brunswick. It’s our go-to getaway when we want to relax, reconnect, and indulge a little. My first visit was back in 2018, and I was instantly smitten. Since then, I’ve returned several times, not only for Indulge, but also on quieter weekends for some R&R and a little shopping therapy with my besties.

We came, we shopped, we wined and dined, and we loved every minute of it! This chic, modern coastal loft has everything you need for a comfortable stay.

Modern Coastal Charm

Housed in a lovingly restored 1860s building, Cottage Chic blends timeless architecture with modern comfort. Owner Janis Downey has designed both a beautiful retail space and two stylish apartment rentals, showcasing her eye for design and appreciation for character-filled spaces.

The loft spans the top two floors above the store, with an inviting open-concept kitchen, dining, and living area, perfect for gathering, laughing, and lingering over wine and conversation. Whether we were prepping snacks, sharing our latest finds, or enjoying that second (okay, third) morning coffee, it always felt like home.

A Seaside Beach Cottage Feel

The Loft exudes a fresh, seaside cottage vibe, relaxed yet refined. State-of-the-art appliances (including a whisper-quiet dishwasher, gourmet stove, and ice-making fridge) make it effortless to feel at home.

The beds are blissfully comfortable, and from personal experience, the king-sized master is downright sumptuous. After a full day exploring, the vintage clawfoot tub became a nightly ritual. It’s the perfect way to unwind before bed.

Cottage Chic Annex

Just behind the retail shop sits Cottage Chic Annex, a cozy one-bedroom apartment with its own private entrance. Ideal for a romantic retreat or a peaceful solo escape, the Annex is filled with charm and ambiance, plus one of the best views in town.

From its private deck overlooking Passamaquoddy Bay, you can toast golden sunsets or simply breathe in the salty sea air. I once enjoyed an impromptu girls’ weekend here too; with a queen bed and pull-out sofa, it’s flexible enough for a couple or a duo getaway.

Location, Location, Location

The best part? Cottage Chic apartments are right in the middle of St. Andrews by-the-Sea, steps away from boutique shops, cafés, galleries, and the waterfront. You can drop off shopping bags between stops, grab a sweater before a seaside stroll, or simply pop in for a quick refresh before heading back out to explore.

When it comes to convenience, comfort, and coastal charm, you really can’t beat it.

So whether you’re planning a girls’ getaway, romantic retreat, or solo escape, book your stay at Cottage Chic Loft or Cottage Chic Annex, and experience the magic for yourself.

Cottage Chic Store

Don’t leave without visiting the Cottage Chic Store, a delightful blend of coastal living and local craftsmanship. You’ll find nautical home décor, cottage-inspired furniture, beachy accents, and beautiful gifts, many sourced from Atlantic Canada and across the country. Look up while you browse. The original tin ceiling is a showstopper! And if you happen to meet Janis, tell her the Maritimes Maven sent you.
